Smart and Intelligent Cities SIG

Smart and Intelligent Cities can be defined in many ways and their importance for us all and our quality of life now and in the future, is unquestionable. Technology will play the crucial role in delivering Smart and Intelligent Cities and the low energy society we all desire.

The Smart and Intelligent Cities SIG will address a broad range of issues such as, city platforms, interoperability and the integration of a myriad of technology applications as well as the need for standards, procurement and regulation. With an open and collaborative approach, we will draw on participation from academia, government, industry, cities and the citizen to shine a spotlight on the opportunities and challenges both in the UK and globally.

SIG meetings will provide an excellent opportunity to network with key people within the ecosystem to access information on the latest trends and issues across what is a multi-sector subject.

Core objectives of the Smart Cities SIG are:

  • To Provide Insight: Informing members and providing analysis on the latest trends in market development, in technology innovation and in new insights into end user needs and behaviour.
  • To Stimulate Fresh Thinking: Assembling thought-leaders from a broad ecosystem to broaden the understanding and sharing of ideas, creating fresh insights critical to fuelling innovation and developing new businesses
  • To Create New Partnerships: Facilitating valuable new connections between individuals and organisations, and between traditionally different industry sectors. Smart Cities will continue to accelerate with technology providing the disruptive innovation that, creates both many new challenges and many more new opportunities to trade.
