Senior Manager, Data Program Management - 516184

Amazon is seeking an experienced Senior Manager of program management to develop, manage, and grow a data effort to support our speech and language technology. S/he will is an expert in data processes such as transcription, annotation/labeling, image annotation & data analysis, and manage a team of program managers to meet data SLA, Quality and Throughput standards. The Senior Manager - Program Management will own end-to-end data service strategy & service delivery for our Science teams based in EU. S/he must have a passion for developing and empowering teams. Specifically, the Senior Manager, Data Program Manager will:

  • Own, build the Data delivery management strategy for the ADS EU Customers
  • Develop new data creation/sourcing/management solutions for the unique data needs of our customers in EU
  • Drive usage of project management tools & frameworks within the organization
  • Own EU stakeholder/customer engagement and delivery of data service per SLA
  • Drive initiatives to improve project/data delivery, customer experience, data cost and quality
  • Manage the EU Data Program management team – day-to-day operations of a team of program and project managers in the EU including logistics, resource/equipment planning, staffing guidance, quality control, and reporting required to meet weekly worldwide data SLAs
  • Manage EU data workflows, escalations and effectively delegate workload across data teams
  • Be the voice of the customers across other Amazon Echo teams, proactively defining program requirements, tracking progress, surfacing risks & executing mitigation strategies
  • Lead hiring and lead training of new team members to support their development
  • Define and execute a charter to innovate current tooling and weekly SLA standard operating procedures
  • Collaborate with Technology and Operations leaders to scale worldwide SLA delivery across programs to new data areas
  • Collect and track metrics related to Speech & Language data processes, accuracy and efficiency, and drive improvements in efficiency, throughput and cost
  • Continuously evaluate data tools and processes and offer solutions to ensure they are efficient, high quality, and scalable
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical and logistical issues


  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a relevant field
  • Five or more years as a Project or Program Manager
  • Experience managing a team of program/project managers, business analysts, consultants, or similar
  • Experience working with various internal teams (including technical) to collect requirements, evaluate alternatives, and develop processes and tools
  • Experience with project specification, forecasting, and reporting


  • Advanced degree preferred
  • Experience leading large, multi-track, fast-moving projects across a globally-distributed site locations
  • Excellent written & verbal communication, strong organizational skills and very detailed oriented
  • Experience working with speech or language data, including experience with language annotation or natural language processing
  • Practical knowledge of data processing needs and trade-offs
  • Experience with Linux, query languages, and scripting language
