Software Engineer (Innovation)

Position:

In this exciting new position you will be responsible for supporting the prototyping and development of end to end IoT systems for new products and solutions such as application softtware and IoT protocols for cellular Internet of Things, optimisations for M2M use cases and targeting new ways to differentiate future products.

As a key menber of our Innovation Team you will take on roles in monitoring industry state of the art, following up and working with new ideas from across the entire Cellular Product Centre and creating new software solutions that demonstrate new capabilities for rapid adoption into the product portfolio. You should have a strong passion for transferring your research into marketable results.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and commercialise products and technologies
  • Initiate approaches and low cost innovations to maintain technical leadership
  • Build prototypes, products and systems for testing
  • Ensure final product meets needs as defined by project
  • Design testing procedures and co-ordinate testing to identify problems and solutions
  • Support Product Managers and develop client presentations for new technologies
  • Identify and keep abreast of novel technical concepts and markets
  • Assist in publicaation of papers and applications for patents

Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in Electronics, Computer Science or related communications fields
  • Experience of Web UI design including D3, Bootstrap, HTML5/CSS3, JavaScript, JQuery and JSON/XML
  • Experience in databases and data modellling using SQL(Postgre, MySQL, and/or MSSQL)
  • Experience of C++/Java, C# and/or Qt application development for Windows and/or Linux
  • Interest in working with embedded software in constrained devices
  • Familiar with MQTT, CoAP, iwM2M and/or AMQP IoT applicaiton protocols
  • Enthusiasm for working and developing applications with cloud services and APIs such as Bosch, Oracle, AWS, Azure, Watson, Bluemix and Google Cloud
  • Familiar with real-time operating systems, debugging embedded and/or real time systems
  • Knowledge of communications systems (eg internet protocols, wireless, low power)
  • Experience in using software development tools (IDE, compilers, version control)
  • Excellent communication and networking skills, self-motivated and able to make progress with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to travel in UK and other countries as necessary
